The iPhone has revolutionized the world of technology since its first generation release in 2007. With every new model, Apple continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with mobile devices. However, as technology advances and phones become more like pocket-sized computers, their prices continue to rise.

The latest models are creeping towards the $2,000 mark for 1TB of storage, leaving many consumers wondering what a fair price might be for such advanced technology. But what about the first-generation iPhone? How much is it worth today? As it turns out, a recent auction saw a factory-sealed first-gen iPhone sell for an astonishing $63,356.40 (£51,900). That's right; this OG device is worth 40 times more than Apple's current top-of-the-line iPhone 14 Pro Max with the same storage capacity. Of course, this isn't just any old first-generation iPhone. This gem was never opened or used before and was still in its original packaging. It's no wonder that it fetched such an astronomical price at auction. The seller of this rare item was Karen Green, who received the 8GB device as a gift back in 2007 but already had her own phone at the time. So she left it unopened and unused until recently, deciding to put it up for sale.

While some may balk at spending over $60k on a phone, collectors and tech enthusiasts understand the value of owning rare items in pristine condition. And let's not forget about those profit margins – $63k straight into Karen Green's pocket! This sale has us wondering – who out there can boast owning every iPhone model from 1-14 in mint condition? It would certainly be an impressive feat and possibly even more valuable than this factory-sealed first-gen device.

As phones continue to evolve into pocket-sized computers, we can only imagine how much more advanced they will become and how much they will cost in the future. But for now, we'll marvel at the fact that someone was willing to pay over $60k for a piece of technology that many of us used daily just a few years ago. The evolution of technology is truly fascinating to witness as it continues to shape our lives in ways we never thought possible... Stay tuned.
