From Barbados teen to billionaire, Rihanna's journey to Hollywood has come a long way. Of course, though, that doesn't mean it's always been smooth sailing. Here's what the Fenty boss-lady had to say about reaching billionaire status and why it's led to some pretty uncomfortable conversations.
For those who forgot, news first broke back in August of the musician's latest accomplishment. As Forbes revealed, Rihanna had officially joined the billions club. Not only did the announcement place her as "the wealthiest female musician in the world," but also the second wealthiest female entertainer after Oprah Winfrey. Pretty impressive, huh?
It appears we're not the only ones who feel that way, though. The entrepreneurial boss-lady opened up about life as a billionaire during a recent appearance on the red carpet. "You know, it was real weird getting congratulations texts from people for money?" Rihanna confessed of the attention her latest feat has called for. "I never got congratulated for money before. That... is crazy."
But while she has been struggling to wrap her head around her whopping new net-worth, Rihanna never plans on forgetting where she came from. "It made sense when I realized that it was inspiring to people that they felt like this is something that they could achieve knowing where I've come from," she confessed to Access Hollywood. "Knowing my humble beginnings, they see the possibility, and it gives them hope. That made me feel really happy."
Safe to say, the star's rags-to-riches story is one like no other. And perhaps we could all learn a thing or two from her. That being said, be sure to stay tuned for all the latest updates on the Fenty billionaire.
And, of course, a big congratulations to Rihanna!
