When 19-year-old James Ison shared another Instagram snap back in 2012, he had no idea what awaited him. Sure enough, his post of Zachary Dell, son of billionaire Michael Dell, lounging on a private jet, blew up overnight - with everyone from The New York Times to NBC eager for more information. So, that's exactly what he gave them: The Rich Kids of Instagram.
Today, it's one of the most sought-after accounts. With over 350 thousand followers and an infinite amount of luxury oozing from each post, Rich Kids of Instagram (now renamed Rich Kids of the Internet) is more than just a brand - it's a lifestyle. "They have more money than you, and this is what they do" the account boasted. Whether it was another heir, buzzing around in a Bugatti, or a millennial model, sailing across Monaco, the luxurious lives of the world's elite clearly knew no bounds. Which is exactly why it won't ever come cheap landing a spot on that coveted feed...
According to Business Insider, those looking to flash their lavish lifestyles on RKOI need to pay - about $2,000, to be specific. And while that doesn't seem to have deterred any of its featured heirs and heiresses, that's not the only place James Ison is earning his paychecks. Since founding the online hub for the world's elite, the Rich Kids of Instagram founder has expanded his empire into different realms. "While we still love showcasing the wealthy way to our followers, we wanted to find a way to get more of that luxury into their hands. So this store was born out of that demand," he recalled of founding the RKOI store.
